• 20020214 (["Node351"]) - Pioneer Square
  • Covers the Starbucks and most of the actual paved square.
• 20020311 (["Node478"]) - Hawthorne International Hostel

  • http://www.portlandhostel.org/

  • Node is live, and has already been heavily used by the hostel's patrons.

• 20020420 PittockBlock (["Node627"])

  • Live, using an Intel 2011. Covers [http://portland.citysearch.com/profile/11620992/ Heaven], [http://portland.citysearch.com/profile/8459700/ Rocco's], some of Powell's. Heavy users are encouraged to date antennae or additional APs for better coverage to the north.

Currently Pursued

• Sam's Billiards

  • Signal from node wiki:NodeId:79 does indeed reach. MichaelCodanti used one of his FujitsuStylistic1000's, a 15dBI sector antenna, and two 802.11b cards to provide access on a temporary basis. Some convincing still needs to be done with both the ownership of Sam's and DanRichardson (who's bandwidth we would be using).

• Lucky Lab
  • They have shown some interest, but haven't followed through yet.
  • Update 1/2/02 - Agreed to unwire!
  • Update 3/5/02 - Still no action, newest is that managers have no idea where their one qualified phone line is actually located.

    • Does someone need to go down with a toner and trace the line for them?

• Rose & Raindrop

  • They have shown some interest, but haven't followed through yet, and are worried about holes and stuff since it is a historic building.

• Red & Black Cafe on Division

  • Already has FreeGeek PCs and some kind (?) of internet connection

  • Have two FreeGeek boxen with dialup (ouch) connections. They want DSL and have a jar for donations. I bet if we covered the difference between their dialup and DSL and provided equipment that they'd unwire.

• Billy Reed's on MLK

• FreeGeek

  • They already have a donated DSL connection and have said that they will run a node as soon as someone donates the hardware.

• Common Grounds
  • I spoke w/ the owner of Common Grounds Michelle. I explained the setup and I left contact info. I am not sure how she recieved the request. There might be an ideological difference or a lack of desire to pay for DSL and ISP services. I offered to loan her an access point and a computer. I'll follow up later after some time has passed.

• South Park Blocks (AlHooton is looking in to possibilities here)
