Maintenance and System Log

  • 2013-05-15: Replaced WGT634U with a Netgear WNDR3800 (as at NodeLuckyLabNorth and NodeUrbanGrindNW) during WeeklyMeeting20130515. --RussellSenior

  • 2012-11-21: Updated firmware to r34240 --RussellSenior

  • 2009-06-26: Responding to another problem report, MarinoDuregon and RussellSenior deployed a WgtCab device (formerly MISSNET-18), and received the old Linksys WRT54Gv2 it replaced as a donation. Cleaned up some of the wiring, removed a defunct UPS. Installed a PTP sticker under JoeJava sticker near door. Reconfigured cacti (on Chevy) to monitor cycle. --RussellSenior

  • 2008-12-05: Responding to an outage report, found the nucab beeping pathetically and not responsive to login attempts over ethernet. Reset the Linksys device and set it up for standalone operation, retrieving the nucab for diagnosis and treatment. --RussellSenior

  • 2007-04-06: Linksys Router (WRT54G) somehow got reset to factory defaults. I reconfigured it to set the proper SSID and to turn off the DHCP server (since this service is provided by the NuCab box). I set a more secure admin password - you may find it in my home directory (/home/ken) on the NuCab box. - KenMalmquist

  • 2007-04-06: KenMalmquist reports that the AP has reverted its SSID to "linksys". He is fixing it... -- CalebPhillips

  • 2007-01-22: Made slight changes to snmpd.conf for NodeMonitoring. -- CalebPhillips

  • 2006-12-30: /var/ filled up, AaronBaer emptied it and redirected the NoCat log to /dev/null. CalebPhillips reduced the NoCat loglevel to 0, and created an account for KenMalmquist (ken) who has agreed to help with maintenance on this node. Reports of short NoCat timeouts appear to have been related to the full partition, and should be all better now (the timeout is set to 1 day) -- CalebPhillips

  • 2006-06-14: Changed dhcpd to use upstream DNS instead of local bind which is not answering queries. Creating this page in accordance with NodeAudit - CalebPhillips

Notes

  • The Ugly Mug Coffeehouse is a great spot in the Sellwood area, serving Stumptown Coffee in handmade mugs. The location features comfortable seating and a creative setting.
  • The Internet connection is a lightning-fast Comcast Business cable modem. Be sure to order something if you're surfing around.
