After a few trials WirelessDistributionSystem (WDS) seems to work cleanly. It's simplest to auto configure as a RemoteBaseStation from an already existing AirPort network. In this case it happens in a mostly magical fashion. I've enabled AirTunes; it has quite the party practicality to it. --DarrinEden |
Airport Express Base Station
Notes
Upon power-up it gives the essid of "Apple Network 04586b". 04:58:6b is the second half of the MAC address.
It has a DHCP server that gave my laptop the IP address of 10.0.1.3 with a default route of 10.0.1.1.
A port-scan of 10.0.1.1 gives:
53/TCP |
DNS |
5000/TCP |
UPnP |
10000/TCP |
snet-sensor-mgmt |
